See our Activities Page for information regarding our Fund Raising Activities in 2015.
To provide resources for programming and provisions necessary to support positive change, reparation and law abiding behavior to individuals and organizations involved with the Justice System.
The Purpose of C.H.A.N.G.E.
To Create a funding source for those whom the probation department serves, with additional support giving them opportunities that could not otherwise be obtained through general county tax revenues.
To provide the Department of Probation & Court Services an opportunity to inform the public on how the Probation system works to enhance and promote public safety within the communities throughout DuPage County. Probation Staff would have the ability to participate in an active, non-directive role.
Who does the Foundation serve?
Adult and juvenile probationers accountable to the 18th Judicial Circuit Court who are making positive changes in their lives.
Victims of crimes in DuPage County who have demonstrated needs for financial assistance until restitution can be made by the probationer.
Why is there a need for such a Foundation?
Adult and juvenile probationers often need structure in their lives as well as the opportunity to participate in activities with people who are law-abiding community members. Pro-social activities not only provide structure where needed but also provide opportunities to build relationships with positive role models where they can practice skills necessary to interact with people in a positive way and gain a sense of accomplishment and belonging. Research in the field of community corrections has proven that positive reinforcement and pro-social community ties effectively reduce re-offending because they change anti-social thinking and behavior.
